This Privacy Policy explains how Scout Social LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Scoutonight," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use scoutonight.com, scoutyourcity.com, their subdomains, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Scoutonight is a social event discovery service operating in supported United States cities. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Phone number — Required for account creation. We use it for SMS one-time-password (OTP) authentication.
• Email address — Optional. Provided if you subscribe to our weekly event digest.
• Instagram handle — Optional. May be used to tailor event recommendations to your scene. Your handle is never displayed publicly on Scoutonight.
• Codename and abstract avatar — Generated by Scoutonight during signup. These are not tied to your real identity and serve as your in-app identity.

Recommendations

During onboarding, you may complete a lifestyle quiz covering your ideal night out, interests, energy level, group size preferences, and preferred neighborhoods. This data powers our ability to generate personalized event recommendations for you.

Messages You Send Us

If you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, subject and message. We use them only to respond to you and to act on your request, and the form is delivered to us by our email service provider.

Usage Data

• Visit logs — IP address, user agent, pages viewed, and events clicked.
• Upvotes — Your upvotes on events and event series.
• Saves and clicks — Events you save, event pages you open, and links to event websites you click.
• Security records — We record code requests and verification outcomes, search submissions and limit decisions, and Intel contribution limit decisions. For suspected abuse, we keep actual IP addresses in a separate, access-restricted record on our operations server for 30 days after the last recorded event, then delete them at the next daily cleanup. Our encrypted, short-term rate-limit records expire within seven days. We do not include verification codes or search text in these records.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication — Your phone number verifies your identity via SMS OTP.
• Personalization — Quiz responses and usage patterns help us curate events that match your vibe. We use your saves, upvotes, event page visits and clicks to event websites to improve our ability to generate recommendations.
• Weekly digest — If you provide an email, it may be used to send a digest of upcoming events of potential relevance.
• Event curation — Instagram handles (when provided) may be used to better understand user scenes and curate relevant events. Handles are used internally only.
• Service improvement — Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand which events and features resonate.
• Service security — We use security records to limit repeated code attempts, searches, and Intel submissions, and to investigate suspected misuse. Access to the separate IP record is limited to staff handling security and abuse reports.

SMS and Text Messaging

If you provide your phone number or opt in to text messages, we may use SMS to deliver account verification codes, account and service notifications, event recommendations based on your selected preferences, conversational messages from our team, marketing notifications where permitted, and general business updates. Message frequency may vary. Standard Message and Data Rates may apply. You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for assistance.

Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing you with the services of that campaign. We may share your Personal Data, including your SMS opt-in or consent status, with third parties that help us provide our messaging services, including but not limited to platform providers, phone companies, and other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.

3. Third-Party Event Data

Scoutonight aggregates publicly available event information from third-party sources in the cities we serve. We do not claim ownership of this third-party content. Event details (names, dates, venues, descriptions) are sourced from public listings and may be modified for clarity or formatting.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — We use service providers for authentication, hosting, analytics, and email delivery. They access data only to perform services on our behalf.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Scoutonight, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

• Authentication cookie — Set by our authentication provider to maintain your logged-in session.
• localStorage — Used to store user preferences and a random browser identifier for first-party visit counts. The identifier does not contain your name or contact details.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Our first-party analytics count visits and page views and show approximate location, device and browser type, referring site, and campaign tags. Browser identifiers are transformed before analytics storage.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for our legitimate business purposes, such as meeting legal obligations, resolving disputes and enforcing our agreements. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

Actual IP addresses in the restricted abuse record are kept for 30 days after the last recorded event and removed by the next daily cleanup. Encrypted short-term IP records used for rate limits expire within seven days.

7. Data Deletion Requests

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time through our contact form at scoutonight.com/contact. We will process your request as required by applicable law.

8. Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Opt out of the sale of personal information — though we do not sell personal data.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Scoutonight primarily serves users in the United States. If you access Scoutonight from the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and the right to object. 9. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and restricted access to personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Scoutonight, including account access and the waitlist, is intended for adults who are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where they live if that is higher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the Service or via email (if provided). Your continued use of Scoutonight after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
