This Privacy Policy explains how Scout Social LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Scout," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use scoutonight.com, scoutyourcity.com, their subdomains, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Scout is a social event discovery service operating in supported United States cities. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Phone number — Required for account creation. We use Supabase for SMS one-time-password (OTP) authentication.
• Email address — Optional. Provided if you subscribe to our weekly event digest.
• Instagram handle — Optional. Used by our curation team to tailor exclusive event recommendations to your scene. Your handle is never displayed publicly on Scout.
• Codename and abstract avatar — Generated by Scout during signup. These are not tied to your real identity and serve as your in-app identity.

Lifestyle Preferences

During onboarding, you may complete a lifestyle quiz covering your ideal night out, interests, energy level, group size preferences, and preferred neighborhoods. This data powers personalized event recommendations.

Usage Data

• Visit logs — IP address, user agent, pages viewed, and events clicked.
• Upvotes — Your upvotes on events and event series.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication — Your phone number verifies your identity via SMS OTP.
• Personalization — Quiz responses and usage patterns help us curate events that match your vibe.
• Weekly digest — If you provide an email, we send a curated digest of upcoming events.
• Event curation — Our team may review Instagram handles (when provided) to better understand user scenes and curate relevant exclusive events. Handles are used internally only.
• Service improvement — Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand which events and features resonate.

3. Third-Party Event Data

Scout aggregates publicly available event information from third-party sources across Miami and Los Angeles. We do not claim ownership of this third-party content. Event details (names, dates, venues, descriptions) are sourced from public listings and may be modified for clarity or formatting.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers — We use Supabase for authentication and may use other providers for hosting, analytics, and email delivery. These providers access data only to perform services on our behalf.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Scout, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

• Authentication cookie — Set by Supabase to maintain your logged-in session.
• localStorage — Used to store user preferences (e.g., quiz responses, UI settings) locally in your browser.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies. If we adopt analytics tools in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Visit logs are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted or anonymized. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Data Deletion Requests

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@scoutsocialco.com. We will process your request within 30 days.

8. Your Privacy Rights

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Opt out of the sale of personal information — though we do not sell personal data.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Scout primarily serves users in the United States. If you access Scout from the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and the right to object. 9. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and restricted access to personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Scout account access and the waitlist are intended for adults age 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly. Please contact hello@scoutsocialco.com with any related concern.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the Service or via email (if provided). Your continued use of Scout after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
